The first impressions from Roelof in Argentinia
Roelof arrived in Córdoba , Argentinia after a long trip from Europe. Timely Roelof and Fedor arrived at the Dutch airport Schiphol and although they had about 10Kg too much lugage, there was no problem to check in. After a nice beverage at the gate they could board the plane and toke of for Madrid, Spain. Arrived in Madrid Roelof and Fedor had to travel with a city-train to reach the next plane which toke them across the Atlantic ocean to Santiago de Chile; a flight of more then 13 hours. In the airplane a nice piece of pasta was served and after a nice movie the light went out. Because Roelof is not so small and the space in a airplane seat is limited, it was hard to get some sleep. But Roelof's multimedia systeem and some nice '80's tunes made the night bareable, although one hour of sleep was too little. After this long flight Roelof and Fedor arrived in Santiago de Chile were they could transfer to an earlier airplane to Córdoba, Argentina were they arrived 2 hours later.

Arrived in the Holiday Inn hotel they first did some shopping in a super-mega-mega-mega supermarket across the hotel, and after that they went to sleep after 40hours of not seeing a normal bed.
The next day Roelof and Fedor arrived very relaxed at the track. The track itselve is a sort of large parking area from a convention center were a cornerpart is used for the quit large racing track.
The first frequency controlled practises were five sessions of each 8 minutes, and they passed in a blink. In the first session a exhaust spring broke, so Roelof had to end the session. The second session a glowplug broke and made it very hard to tune the engine. In the third session , after changing the compression of the engine it finaly went a lot better, and this session was ended without failure. In the fourth session the engine didnot satify Roeloefs' need of power, and he mounted his JP Eagle engine to his MRX4-R chassis. The fifth and final session went without problems and Roelof could 'feel' the track
On the track other drivers were also preparing their cars and engines; Jilles Groskamp was getting familiar with his new Kyosho Evolva/Sirio combination, and showed his control over the car, although he is not an experienced 1/8 scale driver! Even in his first sessions he showed pace and control, Jilles will be a competitor to recon with. In his first heat he had to get used to the track and had a hard time not to touch the curbstones, but used to the track and the car Jilles showed some fast flying laps!
Tonight Roelof and Fedor will prepare the engines for tomorrow, when the second day of frequency controlled practice will take part.
