![]() Today was the 4th day of the 2008 EFRA European Championships and the day of the official opening ceremony. Also this was the first day with the first four rounds of timed practice which has been completed in extremely hot conditions. The track appears to be 2 to 3 tenths of a second slower than in the morning under cooler conditions. In the early afternoon it was German driver Michael Salven who was the quickest driver over five minutes in hot conditions. The Serpent driver recorded 17 laps in 5:04.728. In the later rounds Michael Salven improved his time but dropped to third. The German factory Serpent driver said his car felt much faster as he had a 9/10th of a second improvement. Massimo Fantini took advantage of cooling temperatures in the final run of Day 4 of the 2008 EFRA European Championships. From 21 till 27 july 2008 the EFRA European 1/8th scale circuit Championships 2008 will be held on the track of Autet in Valencia Spain.
The track is a mix of high speed corners, flat out on and off the main straight, as well as slower 180 degree bends. The traction is high and the kerbs are low. Last weekend saw the European ‘B’ Championship for 1/8th scale on-road held in Kirchberg, Austria. The race saw 125 drivers in attendance and after 4 thrilling qualifying rounds it was Shepherd Velox driver Richard Volta that claimed the pole position ahead of Novarossi employee Michele Baruzzi driving in 2nd. The 3rd spot went to Marco Müller from Switzerland, while the final direct qualifying position was taken by Agostinelli Giordano.

The italian company Motonica have released an upgrade set for the top-of-the-line 1:8 onroad racer, the Motonica P8.0R, with which a 2007 model can be upgraded to the latest version, as used by Dario Balestri at the World Championships in Córdoba, Argentinia. Motonica has also upgraded the factory model up to the new 2008 specs, so as off now the 2008 version includes new parts including an updated chassis plate, radio plate, fuel tank, front bulkheads, rear body mount and front shock tower.
